Kotavelo R21, 21mm Full Alloy wheelset
Finally here after 2 years in design and testing, you asked us for a lighter, faster, more aero wheelset to improve on the Bracciano which was previously Australia's best selling wheelset. New for 2017, designed for and tested in Australia is the Kotavelo R21.
We've made the rim wider & lighter so that it can accomodate wider tyres and has a better aero transition from rim to tyre, it has been tested to be faster than the old 27mm deep rim. We kept the Japanese EZO bearings that are famous in our products, we kept standard, easy to find and replace spokes. We removed some weight from the rim & hub by using better materials and machining.
The final outcome we are proud to say is one of the lightest, fastest wheels we have ever manufactured.
Heavier and more powerful riders have not been forgotten, those who need an an even stiffer, more robust option - we listened and made the Kotavelo R21HD "Heavy Duty" version, using exactly the same rim and hub but with an increased spoke count, heavier gauge spokes and brass nipples. Heavier or more powerful riders chasing the ultimate mix between performance and reliability should consider the Kotavelo R21HD.

These wheels replaced my older Bontrager set and are absolutely fantastic!! Super smooth and fast as well as strong! Great value!Price Grey (Apr 07 2021, 20:12 pm)
Excellent All Round Wheelset
I've put about 1500 km on these wheels now and couldn't be happier with how they've performed. They were a bit heavier than advertised (1580 g with rim tape) but are still light enough to notice the difference going up hills. Fitted with a set of 28 mm Veloflex Corsas it's like riding on velvet and the handling / braking is impressive. The only drawback is that the decals are a bit loud for my taste but they've resisted all attempts to remove them thus far. Deon is a good bloke to deal with and I'd definitely buy from him again.Phil (Dec 21 2020, 10:48 am)
Had the R21s for a couple of years, and they've been brilliant; just one broken nipple and they've stayed true throughout. The finish has proved robust, bearings haven't needed attention and there's zero wear on the rims. Weighed in at about 1500g (including rim tape), so heavier than claimed. Very stiff and responsive, totally transformed the bikes road feel. I also own a $1500 set of alloy climbing wheels, which are a few grams lighter but not otherwise superior to the Kotavelos.Andy (Dec 21 2020, 07:26 am)
I have had a set of your R21's for a couple of months now. Out of the box they looked like a quality product. They were very true radially and laterally. I checked the dish and it was spot on too. After two months riding 5 days per week I checked again and no change. My reason for purchase was on weight saving and being able to fit a 28mm wide tyre. I'm very happy with the ride experience. I did appreciate you talking to me over the phone before my purchase and had heard good reports about your service. Happy to buy from an Australian company too. I would recommend your company from a service and product quality perspective.Greg W (Sep 18 2020, 19:18 pm)
Purchased these wheels over a year ago now and have had them off and on the bike. Off, because I though some deeper dish carbon would be better, and then on because it's hilly in Tassie. Well, they're now staying on. For good. They are awesome. They hold a 25mm tyre very nicely - certainly made for them. They are super light, spin up quickly, and are fast enough to train or race on. I'm 75kg and no issues with flex - and I've looked closely at that. So far maintenance free. I really rate them - hence the 5 stars. No regrets in my purchase at all, and yes I'd buy them againScott (Feb 27 2018, 20:35 pm)
